Combination Structural Fitter Welder
The Combination Structural Fitter Welder program prepares students for careers in welding precision manufacturing, welding exotic steels, and other careers related to welding. The concentration of the 917.5 hour program also prepares a student for careers in maritime industry and how metal workers produce building materials for construction projects in shipyards, fabrication shops and ocean-going vessels. The curriculum is designed to amplify students welding ability in advanced structural welding with an inert gas process. The students will learn to develop skills, attitudes and competencies in welding processes and best safety practices. Participants in the program will learn welding safety. They will also learn how oxyfuel and plasma arc cutting function, welding quality and symbols read in detail drawings, base metal preparation and pre- and postheating of metals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn four different styles of welding processes.
