Advanced Pipefitting
The Advanced Pipefitting program prepares students for careers in pipefitting in refineries, gas plants, fabrication shops and shipyards. The 665 hour curriculum is designed to amplify students’ pipefitting ability in advanced pipefitting and pipe-welding with an inert gas process. The students will learn to develop skills, attitudes and competencies in the pipefitting craft, understand drawings and detail sheets, identifying and installing valves and best safety practices. Participants in the program will lear best safety practices and be introduced to hand and power tools. Participant will learn how to read construction and pipe fitting drawing and detail sheets as well as understand pipe fitting trade math. Participant will also understand the process of threaded, socket-weld and butt-weld pipe fabrication. Participants are also introduced to advanced pipefitting math, pipe fabrication and blue print reading, other motorized equipment operation and stress relieving and aligning of piping systems. Participant will also have the ability to lean about hot taps and fundamentals of crew leadership.
