Advanced Maritime Structural Pipe Fitter
The Advanced Maritime Structural Pipe Fitter program prepares students for careers in a maritime environment which may include oil refineries, chemical and power plants and shipyards and surrounding areas. The concentration of this 710 hour program will involve maritime industry and how piping systems are fabricated and installed. Upon successful completion of the program, student will be able to identify and explain the basic types of piping systems found in the maritime environment and the materials used for its application, describe the pipe fittings used for maritime butt/socket welded and threaded piping systems and how to determine the length of pipe between points of connections, describe the procedures for preparing various types of pipe and tubing for brazing, introduce various types of fiberglass and plastic pipe and their maritime applications, describe and identify various types of valves, flanges, and gaskets and identify the types and parts of drawings commonly used by maritime pipe-fitters.
